However, had the city not put up so many road blocks over the years, it's probable the mall would have been built way before the recession hit, and we would have a nice thriving new mall right now, regardless of what happened to Bucky after the mall was built. So, I would argue the "no growth" people aren't directly responsible for the death of this mall, but they definitely played a part in it's demise. " " The last thing that Ames needs is another shopping area. Let's support and improve the ones we have...downtown, campustown, the current rundown mall, etc. Malls are out of fashion now and open-air downtown areas are again gaining popularity.
